Štyri červené čiary, tri zlaté kvety a orol prerezaný na polovicu. Symboly používané k reprezentácii akéhokoľvek mesta sú zvláštne – často darované dávno zosnulým šľachticom s malým významom pre realitu miesta alebo životy jeho obyvateľov. Na ´Kaskáde´ pracovali gethan&myles s viac ako sto ľuďmi z celého mesta, pričom používali slávny košický erb ako východiskový bod pre vytvorenie alternatívneho symbolizmu mesta. Zlatá tradične vyjadruje múdrosť, jednotnosť a štedrosť, zatiaľ čo trojuholník symbolizuje hľadanie osvietenia a trojicu (minulosť, súčasnosť a budúcnosť; ducha, myseľ a telo); tu je to tiež lavína slov, kaskáda myšlienok a uvedomenia. ´Kaskáda´ skúma viacvrstvovú identitu tohto celku, hictorické mesto skrz slová ľudí, ktorí tu žijú a pracujú.
Four red lines, three golden flowers and an eagle cut in half. The symbols used to represent any city are strange – often gifted by long-dead noblemen and with little relevance to the reality of the place or the lives of its inhabitants. For ‘Kaskáda’ gethan&myles worked with over 100 people from all over the town, using Kosice’s famous coat of arms as the starting point for the creation of an alternative symbolism of the city. Traditionally gold represents wisdom, unification, and generosity, while the triangle symbolises the search for enlightenment and the trinity (past, present and future; spirit, mind and body); here, it is also an avalanche of words, a cascade of ideas and consciousness. ‘Kaskáda’ explores the multi-layered identity of this complex, historical city through the words of the people who live and work here.
